Privacy

This page describes what Halfday collects from people who join our waitlist, and — for families using the app — what we collect once you connect your Gmail account. If you haven’t connected Gmail, the only data we hold from you is what you submitted on this site.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist, we store:

• The email address you submitted.
• A one-way hash of your IP address (we never store the raw IP).
• Your browser’s user-agent string and the page you came from.
• The time you submitted.

Why we collect it

One reason: to email you when Halfday is ready to use. The hashed IP and user-agent let us detect and block abuse of the signup form. Nothing else.

Who else gets it

For waitlist and site data: nobody. No analytics services, no email marketing platforms, no third-party trackers. That data sits in our database, and that’s it. If you’ve connected your Gmail account, one processor is involved in reading it — Composio, our secure mail-reading service — covered in the Google user data section below.

Google user data

If you connect your Gmail account, Halfday reads your email through Composio, a secure connection aggregator, using an access grant you provide during setup. We use that connection to read messages — we never send email, modify your inbox, or delete anything on your behalf.

We read Gmail messages to find school-related email — permission slips, schedule changes, event reminders — and extract the dates and to-dos into your family’s checklist. That extraction is the entire purpose of the connection.

Content from your email is processed only to provide this feature. We never sell it, and we never use it for advertising, on our platform or anyone else’s.

Retention. The obligations we extract (dates, tasks, deadlines) persist in your account so your checklist stays accurate over time. We also keep the source email snippet behind each extracted item, so you can see exactly what it was pulled from — this is core to how we build trust in what the AI surfaces. If you disconnect Gmail, we stop reading your email immediately; items and snippets already extracted remain until you delete them or your account.

Deletion. Deleting your account removes your stored obligations and email snippets. To request deletion of your data at any time, email hi@halfday.app.

Halfday’ use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies and runs no third-party scripts. There is nothing to opt out of.

Retention

We hold your waitlist signup until you ask us to remove it, or for 24 months after the product launches if you never engage — whichever comes first.

Your rights

Email hi@halfday.app to ask what we hold about you, or to ask us to delete it. We respond within 30 days.

Updates to this policy

When we update this page we’ll change the date at the top and note the change here. When the product launches this policy will expand significantly to cover the actual product.
